5 simple rules to double the speed of Emule

Perhaps not everyone knows that 's default installation of Emule is not sufficient alone to achieve a configuration that allows to exploit the full potential in terms of download speed. In fact there are limitations to both the operating system level, and indeed global provider of ADSL, and the problems posed by the presence of fake servers. Everyone has always the same purpose: to disrupt and discourage P2P. In this article we will see how to bypass these obstacles, in just five simple steps, thus arriving also at double the speed and performance of Emule.

Increase the maximum number of connections available.
Both on Windows XP (from Service Pack 2) on both Windows Vista was a limitation on the number of partial connections (also known as half open) that the operating system to boot simultaneously. More precisely, Microsoft introduced a limitation to 10 simultaneous connections partially for security reasons in order to prevent DDoS attacks is to limit the action of viruses, worms, etc.. Unfortunately for the operation to emulate this boundary represents a major bottleneck because the P2P networks need to keep open a large number of partial connections. Thus, the suggestion is: install a good antivirus to keep your PC safe anyway and increase the half open connection limit illlustrato the steps below.
1. The site www.lvllord.de download the patch EvID4226Patch223d-en.zip
2. Open the zip and double click to start the executable EvID4226Patch.exe
3. You'll see a DOS window like the one shown below which you propose to change the setting of maximum number of half-open connections increased from 10 (default) to 50. As to emulate the optimal value is 100, first press the "C" (Change Limit), then type "100", Enter and confirm final dates with "Y".
4. The window "Windows File Protection" which will warn you that some system files have been modified and invite you to insert the Windows CD to restore the situation. Ignore the warning by selecting "Cancel" and subsequently confirmed not want to restore the original versions of system files by selecting "Yes"
5. Reboot your PC to make the changes.
6. The next time you restart your PC, open Emule and access to the menu item "Options" on the top bar. Then select "Advanced Options", find the configuration entry "N ° Maximum Connections partially open and edit it by inserting the value" 100 ". Confirm the change by selecting "OK".
Set optimum limits of upload and download
Incorrect setting of the limits of upload and download can significantly decrease the performance of Emule. In order to optimally configure these parameters, you must first understand precisely what your ADSL is really fast (beyond what may declare your provider). Proceed as follows:
1. Close all applications that connect to the Internet (emule, email clients, chat programs, ...)
2. Link to Site myspeed.visualware.com / uk: from here you can launch a test speed of your ADSL line. In the center console "Broadband Speed Test" to change the unit of measurement of speed by clicking the lower right (see highlighted section in red 'picture below) so as to obtain results in Kbps (bytes per second) and not in kbps (bits per second). Start the test by selecting the button "Click to start MySpeed" after a few seconds you will get a result similar to that shown in the picture below.
3. Open Emule and access to the menu item "Options" on the top bar. Select the "Connection" and reported accurately in the two text boxes "Download" and "Upload" the two values obtained from the speed test done. Remove the tick on the checkbox "Download Limit" and bring the "upload limit" to '80% of the value added otherwise you risk completely stopped' s operation of your PC. Confirm the change by selecting "OK".
Keep up to date list of servers
The best way to manage your server Emule is the manual, otherwise you run the risk of having a long list of servers slow, useless and maybe Inactive or broken.
1. Open Emule and access to the menu item "Options" on the top bar. Select "Server" and disable the two options:
  "Update server list when connecting to a server"
  "Update server list when connecting to a client"
  Finally set to "5" the number of connection attempts after which a server is considered inactive and then removed from the list. Confirm the change by selecting "OK".
2. Emule main screen select the menu item "Server" on the top bar. In the right pane "Update server.met from URL" enter the address http://peerates.net/servers.php and then click on "Update." Such intervention should be carried out at least once or twice a month.
Properly set the security options
Network of servers that are posing as a server Emule server but in reality they are only designed to spy monitor and log the P2P traffic, or that are aimed only to impede the sharing of files.
1. Open Emule and access to the menu item "Options" on the top bar. Select the "Security" and "Upgrade from 'URL' type http://www.bluetack.info/temp/nipfilter.dat.gz. If for some reason the direct link does not work you can download the file manually from here, save it locally and then on the "Update from 'URL" type the full path to the directory where you saved the file using file: / / path / nipfilter.dat.gz (for example, if 'you have saved in C: \ you would type file: / / c: / nipfilter.dat.gz). Select "Upload" to activate the filter.
2. Also checked the checkbox "Filter also Server"
3. Optionally, if you have difficulty connecting or earn a high ID because your ISP hinders P2P connections, or if you just want to be absolutely anonymous and difficult to trace, you can also select the checkbox "Enable the 'Protocol Obfuscation"
Optimizing how the sharing of their files
