gOS (GreenOS) is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 7.10 and uses Enlightenment aswindows manager.
The factor that characterizes most gOS is that the system requirements necessary for getting it are very low-just a Pentium III with 256MB of RAM and 2GB hard drive. This is mainly due to the fact that gOS is an operating system designed to "cloud computing", a new way of thinking about the computer as a kind of client that leaves much of the processing and productivity applications to remote or shared based on Web 2.0 technologies and Ajax such as Google Apps, Meebo, YouTube or FaceBook. Start a virtual PC with Linux Ubuntu 5.10 in 5 minutes

In order to give a strong boost to the techniques of virtualization is to make a mass phenomenon, VMware has recently changed its policy of distributing software for free is beginning to distribute its flagship product, VMware Server is a light version called VMware Player .
The main difference between the server version and the player is essentially the fact that the latter is only able to start a virtual machine pre-existing and pre-configured while the server version allows the creation and installation from scratch, with the can also vary hardware parameters of the virtual machine.
But since the site of VMwarealready exists also a section on "Virtual Appliance" that already makes available a large number of virtual machines ready for use, and because of me not to have special needs when the configuration I wanted to opt for installing the player that simple plus is lighter and less intrusive.
So I downloaded the setup file of VMware Player (at the time of writing this is VMware-player-1.0.1-19317.exe) and the zip file containing the virtual machine of Ubuntu 5.10 Linux.
When the download is completed I simply run the setup and unzipped the zip, VMware Player, only requires the opening to indicate the position of the virtual machine to start and that's it: I was able to attend the boot a Linux operating system within Windows XP thanks to the power of VMware virtual machine!Think about that for network connectivity did not have to do anything: VMware automatically installs a virtual network adapter that is configured in bridging with the existing physical PC.
