Remotely access the home computer

It often happens that there is a need to be able to access their home PC for example from the office, perhaps to check personal mail, or the status of downloads in progress. Usually the main obstacle is related to the fact that virtually all ADSL customers do not provide a private static IP address and thus is rather complicated it can track every time they change.
Fortunately there is a simple and effective way to manage this type of situation perfectly, which is to use a dynamic DNS service: for example I always use dyndns.org that I think the absolute best. The procedure for registration and activation is simple and mostly free. Here's how:

• From your home PC (on which you want to enable dynamic DNS) Register with DynDNS, please sign in and access to "Dynamic DNS";
• In the "Actions" select "Create Host" will see a form that already offers you the IP address from your provider now assegnatovi ADSL. You just have to choose a hostname and a domain of your liking among those available, then you can proceed by clicking on "Add Host" that will postpone a confirmation page for activation.
• Once you register the host you need software that works to keep synchronized with your DNS dynamic IP address changes of which you are subject: Download and install "DynDNS Updater".
• When you first start a DynDNS Updater wizard will guide you in your configuration:
  • Type of connection: if you un'ADSL select "Dial-up" and select "Next";
    
  • ADSL configuration: Provide information about your ADSL connection: connection name, user name and password;
    
  • Party hosts: choose a group name for your host (this is purely textual information);
    
  • Inserting DynDNS users: enter your username and password with which you have registered on DynDNS;
    
  • Download the Host recorded on DynDNS: Leave the option "Yes, do automatic downloading";
    
  • Selecting the hostname to bind to PC: Following the automatic download of the previous point you should be able to see and select the host name in the list created on DynDNS;
    
  • Automatic update of IP address: leave the checkbox unchecked;
    
  • Start Mode: Choose whether to start DynDNS Updater as service or at Windows startup;
    

Very well, at this point, our home PCs, despite having a dynamic IP address, it will also always reachable from the Internet with the hostname provided by DynDNS. Now there is only a remote control software: nonstante in circulation there are several I will recommend Real VNC Free Edition as a free, lightweight and fast:

• Download from here Real VNC Free Edition for Windows (select "VNC Free Edition for Windows" => "Installer including both Server and Viewer" => "Executable") and start the installation wizard:
  • In the "Select Components" select "VNC Server";
    
  • In the "Select Additional Tasks" select both checkboxes;
    
  • After the installation will automatically open the configuration interface, in which the most important thing is to select "VNC Password Authentication" and set a password by clicking on the button "Configure";
    

Now the configuration of your PC at home is finally completed, can we go to see what are the requirements to be met by the PC client (eg what you have in office):

• Connectivity to the Internet and in particular the possibility of opening connections on port 5900;
• Installing VNC Viewer: use the same downloaded installer for setup of home PC and the screen "Select Components" this time selecting "VNC Viewer" will this time only install the VNC client application which requires no other special configurations.

Once the VNC Viewer is also installed there is nothing more than start it and try to connect, enter the hostname provided by DynDNS and then the password you set VNC Server: If there are no connectivity issues at the network , you will get the screen of your PC at home just as if you were sitting in front!
