Remove the limit of "half open connections" to get the maximum speed with Emule and Torrent
There are several tricks and tip to optimize eMule and uTorrent to download at full speed, but perhaps the key element common to both systems sharing/P2P file is relative to the limit imposed by Windows for the so-called "half-open connections ".
In fact, since Windows XP SP2, Microsoft introduced a limitation to a maximum of 10 half open connections, for security reasons: for half open connections (ie connections that remain in state SYN) normally occur when such a virus (such as the famous "Blaster") tries to open a large number of simultaneous connections to different IP address.
But as you know you too well to viruses and malware, including all P2P software work with the same principle and require a large number of open connections to different IP address! For this reason, anyone who wants to push hard or eMule Torrent necessarily have to apply a patch that removes this bottleneck. The solution normally I have always used (and recommended) was to use the patcher LvlLord's Event ID 4226 which in fact does physically modifying the system file "tcpip.sys" to increase at will the maximum number of half-open connections (with the risk that every Windows update is restored to the original version).
TCP-Z is a much more evolved than the patcher LvlLord's Event ID 4226, because you can get the same result, however, applying the changes directly in memory, no physical alteration of system files in Windows. Obviously the patch applied in memory remains active until restart, so you must reapply every time you turn on your computer (it is still an instant). This is only one of the characteristics of TCP-Z: in fact it has a monitoring console that displays the status and the number of all open connections halp open, displaying the speed upload and download real-time and any warning due to overload.
TCP-Z also works in two modes:
- manual mode: it consists in 'start the executable TCPZ.exe and then to customize the half-open connection limit positioning the tab "Patch"
- mode virtual devices: TCP-Z is to install virtual device. To activate this mode, you must be installaizone device launching the executable TCPZ_Setup-x86.exe, then you can manage connections halp-open directly from the "Device Manager> TCPZ Driver> TCP Half Open Limited Patcher (TCP-Z) "
TCP-Z is free, portable and runs on all versions of Windows 32 and 64 bits. Please note that, similarly to LvlLord's Event ID 4226 TCP-Z could also be mistaken as a virus by your anti-virus: should they happen you simply ignore the messages dell'antivirus.
