Speed shutdown of Windows
You have surely noticed that the timing of shutdown of Windows (as indeed also the boot) tend to become longer and longer as time goes on.
This kind of gradual decrease of speed is related to many factors, first of all, the number of applications installed and running.
Fortunately, there are opportunities to decrease the time of shutdown simply by modifying the timeout values at the level of registry keys: Start the registry editor through the command "regedit" and proceed as follows:
- Locate the folder 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop' and change the value of the keys WaitToKillAppTimeout and HungAppTimeout bringing it to '1000';
- Locate the folder 'HKEY_USERS \. DEFAULT \ ControlPanel \ Desktop' and change the value of the keys 'WaitToKillAppTimeout' and 'HungAppTimeout' bringing to '1000';
- Locate the folder 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control' and set the key value 'WaitToKillServiceTimeout' bringing to '1000'.
