Global Translator 0.7 released
I’ve just release a new major release of Global Translator! (the previous 0.6.3.* branch has been suppressed)
Here’s the changelog:
- Added two new translation engines: FreeTranslation and Promt Online Translation
- Added USER-AGENT filter in order to prevent unuseless connections to the translation services
- Added support for Default Permalink Structure (i.e.: “www.site.com/?p=111″)
- Added widgetization: Global Translator is now widgetized!
- Fixed some bugs and file permission issues
- Excluded RSS feeds and trackback urls translation
- Fixed some problems on translated pages
IMPORTANT: if you are experimenting problems with your current translation service I suggest you to try FreeTranslation.

Tra l’altro Google translator fa un lavoro più che decente, devo dire. Hai provato gli altri? Hai un’opinione netta a riguardo? Ciao!
@Daniele: Google non e’ male, solo che a volte ti banna per alcune ore se fai troppe traduzioni. In alternativa Freetranslation non e’ male

ok, ho comunque attivato la cache del plugin. C’è un modo per fare indicizzare dai motori di ricerca anche la versione tradotta?
@Daniele: il bello di Global Translator e’ proprio il fatto che genera delle friendly url che consentono un’indicizzazione ottimale da parte dei motori di ricerca. Una volta che il plugin e’ attivo e la barra delle bandierine e’ presente sul sito, i motori di ricerca entrano in automatico anche sulla sezione tradotta.

Ciao ho appena messo il tuo plugin, che dire bellissimo, ma ho una domanda: come faccio a non far apparire il frame di babelfish in alto se scelgo babelfish come motore di traduzione? ho visto in’un’altro sito dove si usa il tuo plugin con babelfish e il frame in alto non appare
@tutankamon: babelfish ha attivato un sistema di banning per cui ad oggi e’ proprio impossibile controllare il suo output. Ti consiglio di usare in alternativa uno degli altri motori a disposizione.

A fair warning, for those of you planning to use the, just released, THAI language translation of Google.
I activated it on my site (http://uijttewaal.com) and my wife, who is Thai, had quite a few laughs. According to her the translation is really, really bad. So I expect the Google THAI translator is really in an early Beta or even Alpha phase
But still, it is nice to see that finally THAI language translation will be incorporated in Google.

Firstly, would like to say great plugin. I am using it on my site successfully bringing in alot of international traffic. I have one problem I have been trying to search out an answer for I would appreciate help with (I have looked, I do not see a support forum?).
I would like to block the plugin from translating a specific page. I have link cloaking setup, so the link looks like another internal page on my site (ie “www.jumphigher10.com/jump-manual/” is really a link to an external domain), as such the plugin tries to translate it when I click it, but causes me errors. Is there any way I can block the translator from translating this “page” (link)? Thanks!
