Global Translator 0.7 released

I’ve just release a new major release of Global Translator! (the previous 0.6.3.* branch has been suppressed)

Here’s the changelog:
– Added two new translation engines: FreeTranslation and Promt Online Translation
– Added USER-AGENT filter in order to prevent unuseless connections to the translation services
– Added support for Default Permalink Structure (i.e.: “www.site.com/?p=111”)
– Added widgetization: Global Translator is now widgetized!
– Fixed some bugs and file permission issues
– Excluded RSS feeds and trackback urls translation
– Fixed some problems on translated pages

IMPORTANT: if you are experimenting problems with your current translation service I suggest you to try FreeTranslation.

Global Translator: I’m working on a new release

A new release is coming soon. I’m receiving a lot of comments, questions, suggestion about my plugin, but it’s hard to publish and manage all of them. So please be patient and please wait just for a few days.

Global Translator 0.6.beta5 rilasciato

La 0.6.beta5 include una piccola ma sostanziale modifica relativa al reperimento dell’url da inviare al servizio di traduzione. La modalità precedente creava problemi ad alcune configurazioni ed andava in conflitto con Firestats. Colgo l’occasione per ringraziare Jason F. Irwin per il prezioso supporto fornitomi.

Global Translator 0.6.beta4 rilasciato

Con la nuova feature che consente di selezionare quali traduzioni abilitare, ho introdotto un bug che non permetteva di visualizzare la bandiera relativa alla lingua di base del blog. Questo il motivo principale per la 0.6.beta4. I dettagli di seguito:

• Fixed bug introduced with the new configuration option which permits to choose which flags to show
• Added the “gltr_” prefix for all the functions names in order to reduce naming conflicts with other plugins
• Removed PLUGIN_DIR_NAME define

Global Translator 0.6.beta3 rilasciato

Ormai siamo al ritmo di un rilascio al giorno! Tutto grazie anche ai preziosi feedbacks che ricevo e che mi consentono di testare bene il codice. Oggi (che oltretutto è Pasqua – Auguri !) siamo alla versione 0.6.beta3 in cui a parte qualche altro fix ho aggiunto una feature richiestissima che consiste nella possibilità di poter scegliere il numero di traduzioni da rendere disponibili sul sito.
Di seguito le release notes:

• Added new configuration feature: now you can choose to enable a custom number of translations
• Fixed problem on the flags bar: the translation links were always redirecting to the home page

WordPress Global Translator Plugin 0.5

E’ finalmente arrivata anche la versione 0.5: la vera novità è senz’altro rappresentata dall’introduzione di un sistema di caching configurabile per le pagine tradotte. In questa maniera è possibile ridurre sensibilmente il numero delle chiamate ai Google Traslations Services e nello stesso tempo si abbattono notevolmente i tempi di caricamento delle pagine. Tenete comunque presente che l’implementazione è “sperimentale”: questo non significa che è “pericolosa” ma semplicemente che necessita di essere riprodotta e provata in più scenari differenti prima di essere considerata stabile.

Ho poi corretto qualche bug tra cui quello relativo al malfunzionamento della traduzione Giapponese per i blog in lingua inglese e quello per cui non venivano sostituite correttamente le url delle pagine tradotte nel caso in cui il blog avesse il parametro “Blog addressâ€? diverso dal parametro “WordPress address”.

WordPress Global Translator Plugin 0.4.1

Ho ricevuto alcune segnalazioni che riportavano uno strano comportamento della versione 0.4, per cui sembrava che in certe condizioni venisse accodata alla pagina tradotta, quella originale.

Ho fatto alcune verifiche e prove e alla fine ho trovato e corretto il problema nella versione 0.4.1 appena rilasciata.

Grazie a tutti per l’aiuto che mi date nello scovare i bug e quindi nel perfezionare sempre piu’ il plugin!!
